I get exactly the same shpchp messages. I am running Karmik 64 in an HP Dm1Z
using an AMD dual core processor.
Let me know what other output should be posted here to trigger a solution.

I have this in dmesg also:
shpchp :00:01.0: HPC vendor_id 1022 device_id 9602 ss_vid 0 ss_did 0
shpchp :00:01.0: Cannot reserve MMIO region
shpchp: Standard Hot Plug PCI Controller Driver version: 0.4
I'm using Lucid and I get at bootup in the console saying:
shpchp :00:01.0: Cann
Applicable part of dmesg is below. I see "softreset failed" messages on
screen when booting. Machine is Acer Aspire 5515 with AMD Athlon 64 and
I am running latest Karmic 64.
[1.027619] ACPI: Battery Slot [BAT1] (battery present)
[1.040091] ata2: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300)
[
I forgot to say. Does not appear to effect performance in anyway, since
it looks like it links up on mine. Just might look like a bad message
to a newbie, like something is wrong with the drives.
