The same for me. I make a clean installation of KUbuntu 9.10 64bit, and
fortunately I don't have this problem anymore.

encourage you to open a new bug, reporting your behaviour.

The suggested solution does not work for me since I have GRUB installed
(v.1.96) and it's loading fine. I am able to successfully boot the OS I have
