No, the | symbol is not the proper fix, because then installing the meta
package will only pull one of them, and we cannot guarantee which one.
I'm afraid with the current structure in our language support (by Language, not
by variation) we don't have any other choice. I have some ideas already

I'm also affected by this bug in Kubuntu 10.04. I can't remove a bunch
of packages that provide English spelling variants that I don't want:
myspell-en-au, myspell-en-za, myspell-en-gb,hunspell-en-ca, and
wbritish. If I try to remove the first, KPackageKit wants to remove
It is indeed annoying. I use three languages (spanish, english and
french), and when I open the language selection menu in firefox it takes
the entire screen height! Moreover the list is not sorted
alphabetically. Here is the list I get:
Spanish/Mexico
Spanish/Bolivia
French/Belgium
Wrong package assignment, if this is considered a bug at all it is on
language-support-writing-en.
** Package changed: openoffice.org-dictionaries (Ubuntu) = language-
support-writing-en (Ubuntu)

It looks like a bug since these creates languages in spell check menus
which people may never need and never use thus cluttering menus.
