Public bug reported: I tried to install the restricted STA driver for the Broadcom 4312 wireless in my Dell Mini 9 laptop, on a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 standard edition. After installing 9.10 I applied all updates with aptitude upgrade, then went to the Restricted Drivers and installed the STA driver for Broadcom/ Then the utility seemed to freeze up, my Gnome bars vanished (wallpaper remained) and the Restricted Drivers utility then lost its theming. It looked like Windows 2000 for a while, until the utility vanished. The system hung. I forced a power off with the power button and got the bug report msg upon login.
