Same problem with my HP Photosmart 715 camera. Nautilus seems to lock the file and not allow F-spot import to get access. This is a Karmic issue and worked perfectly in 9.04. I get a different error message (see below) and my work around for now is to copy to disk via nautilus them run F-spot
