I still have the same problem going from 9.04 to 9.10
In a 12GB root with 2.8GB free it requires 4200MB???
$ df -h /boot
FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 12G 8.6G 2.8G 76% /
$ ls -lhA /boot
total 17M

I had no problem upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10 on my desktop, allocating 40g of
harddrive space.

However, I get the message not enough disk space on / when I try to upgrade
9.04 to 9.10 on my netbook, but I allocated 100g of harddrive space.

former installations using 'sudo apt-get clean'? I have yet to locate
this sudo apt-get clean, let alone use it, and since my problem began
I've lost my audio, can't do any updates or upgrades. I know my hard

Subject: [Bug 46775] Re: [dist-upgrade] not enough disk space should
I would suggest changing the wording of the message to, The upgrade
aborts now. Please free at least 128M _MORE_ disk space. I originally
read the message as, Make sure you have at least 128M free, when it
actually means, You are short by 128M. Mentioning the total amount of
space needed would

this bug is merely a wishlist-item for adding the amount of diskspace

~$ df

@Matthias Meulien:
Thanks for your bugreport.
Can you please attach the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade ? This will help us
diagnose the problem and figure if there is a bug in the free space checking
code. Please also include the output of:
$ df -h
Thanks,
Michael

[dist-upgrade] not
I had the same problem as TiagoCruz... It seems that the computation of
needed space is wrong. Here are the last ten lines of my log file
/var/log/dist-upgrade/term.log:

Installation de la nouvelle version du fichier de configuration

after download... when starts to install the packages.
My disk space was over when the new kernel
