# ldd /usr/bin/nm-applet|grep /usr/local
libnm-util.so.1 = /usr/local/lib/libnm-util.so.1 (0x00dcf000)
# cp -f /usr/lib/libnm-util.so.1* /usr/local/lib/
fixed it for me too durably - thanks again @ Joao :)

nm-applet crash : symbol lookup error
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/470666
It happened due to a manual installation i did before.
Doing a
# cp -f /usr/lib/libnm-util.so.1* /usr/local/lib/
for example, resolves the issue (in my case).
To see where is the conflit do:
# ldd /usr/bin/nm-applet|grep /usr/local
Cheers

Hi Matt
I can't use apport right now, but I'll be able to do it later.
This are the current versions I'm using.
network-manager - 0.8~a~git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu1
network-manager-gnome - 0.8~a~git.20091014t134532.4033e62-0ubuntu1
libnm-glib2 -
Joao,
Could you also provide the version of libnm-glib2 you have installed on
your system?
Also, please reproduce your bug, then run 'apport-collect 470666' to
have apport generate and include the information.
/ Matt
