Sorry but don't understand why the bug is invalid
In my humble opinion this was produced because the Ubuntu didn't upgrade
correctly the kernel itslef. I don't have any customized kernel but it
hadn't been well upgraded.

I noticed the same this morning. I've tried to download the kernel sources
with aptitude but they are not present.
The upgrade didn't force the installation of the 2.6.31; so I'm willing to
force it, but not sure how.
I'll investigate this afternoon since I didn't have much time.

If you're running the desktop version, which I assume you are since you are
installing Virtualbox, you should be able to select a kernel image and source
to install with Synaptic.
