I just went through this. My porblem is that once I change it to
audacious2 it work but when stramtuner get closed it goes back to
audacious. There needs to be a way to make the change permanent.

That's because audacious is no longer available, it's audacious2.

I had a similar issue and I fixed the problem with the segmentation fault by
editing the preferences for Streamtuner and once there, under applications I
edited the settings Listen to a .m3u file and Listen to a stream to audacious2
%q and that seemed to fix the issue.

I have the exact same issue and the exact same output in terminal.
streamtuner starts out O.K., it loads my xiph playlist stations, I can even
select a category and select on the genre column.
As soon as i press connect, I get a segmentation fault en the program just
crashes. No warning or
here is the shell output when I try and run streamtuner:

It seams to start up fine but when I select a stream and try to connect
it just crashes.
