Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
Hello. I’m using Ubuntu Karmic and my laptop doesn’t want to shut down : when I click on the graphical interface “Shut Down”, it yields my logout, but then nothing appenned : I just returns to gdm. It produce the same result when clicking on “restart”... I try to type “sudo halt -f” on a terminal. Bash just write one line, and then it return to a normal state, as I’ve just type “ls” or something like. Here are the line written : halt: relocation error: halt: symbol __abort_msg, version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference It doesn’t disturb me for now, while I use the hibernate option — which works perfectly well. I just find it suspect, and I prefer to repport the bug. I’ve use ubuntu-bug, so I think additionnal informations has been added to this post. Hoping that it will help the community. Martin.
