Setting to verification-failed. The upload must have been tweaked from
my debdiff or we have come across some other bug, I think. The scim
package in lucid-proposed lacks a recommendation for scim-gtk2-immodule
where the package in lucid itself still has that recommendation.

A workaround, for anyone who like me doesn't know how to implement a
patch to their system, is the following:
This might not work on all systems but on my Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 all I
need to do is "killall scim-panel-gtk" and it's automatically restarted
with the tray icon. There's a similar bug in b

What's Debian/M inclusion?
Debian just saw 1.4.9-3 released to unstable. I think it should include
a fix for this particular issue. Will need to double-check. If it's
still missing the patch, I'll release 1.4.9-4 shortly.

I upgraded my system to Lucid Lynx Beta1 and met the same problem.
When I select ibus in language support dialog and launch SCIM via scim-
bridge.el on Emacs, the notification icon is correctly displayed.

When closing scim (via Menu) the tray icon appears. Same effect on different
other Systems upgraded from 9.04.
Maybe wrong args in /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/scim-bridge?

I can confirm this. After upgrading to 9.10 the scim GTK panel icon
doesn't show up anymore. I can still use the key bindings to change
input method though.
