I have mythwelcome set to start at boot, it sometimes doesn't respond to
lirc events, but if I press enter to start mythfrontend then
mythfrontend does respond to lirc events.
I was wondering if mythwelcome was starting before lirc has started.

After an update of X packages today to version 1:7.4+3ubuntu10, this
seems to happen less often for me. The mythfrontend is non-responsive
to LIRC events only after every 10th-20th restart.
Note that when this happens, mythfrontend still notices if I `sudo
service lirc restart`:

And it also happens with revision 22941 of mythtv-0-22 from SVN.

The problem persists with mythtv-trunk from SVN.
Note that using `irxevent` works. So if I have the following in my
.lircrc:
begin
remote = iMON-PAD
prog = irxevent
button = Ch+
repeat = 0
config = Key Up CurrentWindow
end
begin
remote = iMON-PAD
prog = mythtv
