Meanwhile I tested with different graphics hardware in emulators. The
problem doesn't exist there. Also I see the same behavior in Fedora 12.
So it seems it's an upstream bug in the X11 cirrus driver.

Environment is a VM under KVM. X uses the cirrus driver. The problem is
not present in Kubuntu 9.04 in the same environment.
