What Frame rate (fps) do you input? Try something multiple of 24: 24, 48 etc.
Just a workaround.

Yes. Even more, the fact that the last frame is shown as white page is annoying.
I tried by deleting the last frame from the source (the last xdmf000x), and of
course and reading error occurs.
There are more small annoying issues that I forget right now.

I just uninstalled Paraview with synaptic, then I downloaded the general
version for Linux of Paraview 3.8 directly from their site. Now it works almost
fine (the last frame of the animation and the saved .avi animation became
lost). But at least an animation is saved!
Thus, this bug 484955 in
