Public bug reported:

First reboot after updating to 2.6.31-15 decided to run fsck on a USB
flash drive I had left plugged in. After it eventually loaded up to
desktop I noticed a Bluez error window, and then I noticed sound was not
working. Unrelated you would think?

Checking dmesg, I saw a lot of errors coming from the disk which had
been checked. I also noticed the access light on it was flashing like
mad. So I pulled it out. Instantly my USB bluetooth was detected, Bluez
loaded, and stranger still, my sound (which is a PCI card) started to
work.

Checked dmesg again, and it looks like vbox drivers were also blocked
from loading by this.
