Could you please attach the output of dmesg?

Thanks,

- Cody

** Changed in: Ubuntu
Sourcepackagename: None => sensors-applet
       Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info

** Summary changed:

- Cool and quiet for AMD X2
+ No thermal monitor support on AMD X2

** Description changed:

- Since I've been using Ubuntu (as main OS for production), I encountered
- an issue (in Breezy and then in Dapper): my computer freezes once or so
- everyday. Can freeze 3 times in a row and then be ok for the rest of the
- day. Firefox is highly instable...crashes many times a day.
-
- I looked in the forum and finally discovered other AMD X2 based users
- which had the same problem. I applied succesfully the solution suggested
- : disable the cool and quiet function in the bios. Since Firefox never
- crashes anymore, and Ubuntu is rock solid.
-
- It seems a rather poor solution though. The idea of having a scaling
- frequency enabled though the "cool and quiet" function does make loads
- of sense, but seems to generate a bug.
-
  The 'computer temperature monitor' applet doesn't work on my computer
  (no thermal monitor support). It's correctly wired though (works on the
  bios and was working on WinXP with...mmm...can't even remember the name
  of the program...was quite some time ago :) ). Therefore, I don't know
  what are the implications of this no 'cool and quiet' on the temperature
  of my cpu.

  Specs :
  ASUS A8V Deluxe
  AMD X2 3800+
  2 Go of DDR corsair
  1 Matrox graphic card
  1 IDE
  1 SATA
  1DVD Rom
  1 CD Rw

  Thanks bunch!
