I found out what's wrong. The 4th parameter of pcap_open_live() which represents the readout delay must not be -1 anymore (which AFAIK means ignore). Only values equal or greater zero are allowed, otherwise libpcap-dev consumes 100% of the CPU or crashes. Best wishes Herbert -- libpcap0.8-dev
