Removing Dapper target. Is tis still an n-m bug in Gutsy? If so please
re-open and set to 'Incomplete'. Thanks.

Now network-manager refuses to start up. This started happening after
the latest kernel update, but could be a case of post hoc reasoning.
According to strace output (which I'll attach), it constantly polls some
file descriptor (14, in this case), which always returns "EAGAIN".

If you have a look on this bug as well, including the same driver.. I
also didn't manage to get a IP through dhcp and it didn't even find
the access point.. For some strange reason, some channels doesn't work
undner Dapper... But thay work under windows...

Ok, so this is something with Network-Manager, or other part. Rejecting
the linux-source portion of this bug. If you find out what other part
causes this, add that component to the bug (don't open a new bug as that
neglects the history so far).

St
Success.
I was able to obtain an IP address for my wireless card (using stock
rt2500 driver in the latest kernel) by adding
wireless-essid rtswireless
wireless-key
to /etc/network/interfaces
All previous attempts were using the ASCII key.
So, the bugs are now:
- Why doesn't ASCII key work?
-
I'm not so sure this is an rt2500 driver problem anymore. I found an
old cvs tarball that I had used successfully under Breezy, compiled and
installed it, and I still can't get an IP address for my wireless
device. Perhaps the problem is elsewhere?

rt2500 wireless adapter unable to obtain IP
The latest kernel did not help; in fact, it seems to have made things
slightly worse... now the nm-applet won't let me configure wireless at
all (though command-line tools like ifup, iwconfig, etc. still seem to
not work in the same way as before... hope you unserstand what I mean).

Please test the latest kernel in dapper-security. Likely it wont help
you, but atleast you'll be using the latest CVS built properly.

ok, the iwconfig output does not indicate the BSSID of the AP. This
means you are not associated.
Does iwlist ra0 scan report anything?

I don't know how to answer that. Here is the output from iwconfig ra0:
ra0 RT2500 Wireless ESSID:"rtswireless"
Mode:Managed Frequency=2.412 GHz Bit Rate:11 Mb/s Tx-Power:0 dBm
RTS thr:off
Unfortunately you don't seem to have debug enabled in rt2500. This makes
the logs not really usefull. Please read the instructions in the TESTING
file about obtaining debug information.
Also does iwconfig indicate you have started a successfull association?
