Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

i like the per-app volume control, but there was something that is really
annoying.
apps only show up in audio-settings if they playing a sound, that's not the
correct behaviour because i.e. if i want to change the volume of the pidgin
sounds pidgin has to play a sound, but most sounds in pidgin are too short to
start them and go to the dialog to change the volume.
i know that under windows every app that's currently running is shown in the
per-app volume dialog so one could change volumes for every program regardless
it's playing sound or not. and it also remembers that volume-settings...i don't
know if gnome-volume remembers the settings?!

** Affects: gnome-media (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
