This was an auto-upgrade (distribution upgrade) from 9.04 to 9.10 and
the error message came and went before i could be sure exactly what it
was. This is a best guess since I was watching the news on television
rather than spending an hour watching the screen during the update.

@Daan de Wit: thanks, but this symptom could be caused by any Emacs
extension; in your case, the culprit is emacspeak (bug #491101) but the
attached Dependencies.txt does not include emacspeak, so it's unlikely
that srini_2007 has the same problem.

@era: That's what I thought, but AptOrdering.txt does contain emacspeak,
so I thought it might very well be the same issue. I'm not sure about
what this file should contain, so I might of course be wrong here.
