I'm up and running now! I did a complete removal of everything
ubuntuone related and then manually deleted ~/.config/ubuntuone/ (the
entire folder) and reinstalled.. Works like a charm.. in 9.10, anxious
to try the music store. thanks everyone!

Whoopee! Ubuntu One is syncing again.
(Minor technical point: I deleted the whole .local/share/ubuntuone
folder than just the file, but it did the job.)

Removing the corrupted metadata fixed the error, my client is now
syncing again.
