very similar issue on an acer extensa 5635ZG. same nic. the kernel is 2.6.31-19 very similar oops after the oops the machine remains perfectly usable except for wireless (nm-applet keeps asking for wpa passphrase but fails to connect, rmmod ath9k fails) tried linux-backports-modules-karmic and

Unfortunately I already upgraded the machine in question to Lucid, so I can't test the Karmic backports package. However, I assume that package was backported from the version in Lucid, and the machine has had no problems with wireless in Lucid. -- BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer
