The version 0.9.8 had this issue, it has been fixed in 0.9.9 and higher,
as of this email 0.9.9.2 is current.
This does not happen on Fedora 12 with an ATI r600 video card. Suggest
looking for a newer mplayer or upgrading your video drivers.
