Since changing it would do scary things to Ubuntu by default I'm not going to change it. ** Changed in: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Rejected -- unattended-upgrades needs manual configuration https://launchpad.net/bugs/52126 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list

Well, installing unattended-upgrades will not do anything by default. In additon to installing it, it needs to be enabled explicitely via a apt configuration variable. Then it will start to do scary things ;) -- unattended-upgrades needs manual configuration https://launchpad.net/bugs/52126 --

Aha! I only just noticed that unattended-upgrades is part of the default ubuntu and xubuntu install. I therefore agree the current configuration file defaults make sense. It is NOT part of the default install of Kubuntu. Changing that would be a better wishlist item. -- unattended-upgrades

Thanks for your wishlist report. There is a additional way to enable automatic updates. Use System/Administration/SoftwareProperties, there is a checkbutton there. I'm unsure about enabling unattended-upgrades by default, it seems like something that really needs a broader discussion. Cheers,
