Maverick was indeed upgraded to 5.1.1, so I'm marking this Fix Released.
I opened a lucid-backports task for lucid as this wouldn't qualify for a
stable release update. Please follow the backport request procedure

Debian has 5.1.1 in squeeze:
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/monit
I'm like to see this updated in maverick and then backported to lucid.
The set of improvements is really useful for LTS servers.

Please is it possible to update monit package to 5.1? There no security
fixes in the new release, but several important functional bugfixes:
* Support resource monitoring (cpu usage, etc.) when Monit is running
inside virtual environment. Tested on:
- FreeBSD jail
- Solaris zone
