I'm sorry, obviously adium knows my name.
What exactly should this do? When there is my nickname the whole message must
be highlighted, or just my nickname?

Actually, incoming messages in adium only know the name of the sender and not
my name, so this can't be done in adium-theme-ubuntu. (as long as I know,
because I've just read the adium site. I'm definitely not an adium expert)

There is no %myname% type tag however this could be done via a
textsearch of the incoming message using javascript.
Something like incomingTextVar.search(/myName/i) should find it. However
there's no way to set what YOUR name is, until you send a message (at
least in Adium that is the case) (see
But in this way we're no more adium compatible, because we must add a
parameter to the javascript functions.
This is a big lack of adium, but I see that in the adium changelog
they state that when someone writes your name the message color is red
