Public bug reported: There is a constellation of bugs relating to the difficulty in Kubuntu 9.10 in getting the screen resolution above 800x640.
1. The Live CD for Kubuntu 9.10 is stuck in low resolution, with no obvious way to change it. 2. The programs Nvidia X Configuration Settings and Systems Settings don't provide resolutions above that value either. 3. There is no coordination between Nvidia Confiburation and Systems Settings. As one poster on Kubuntu Forums put it, they don't play well together. It is unclear what the right way is to set the resolution when both programs are present. Many posters on Kubuntu Forums have complained about the difficulty of getting decent screen resolution in a new installation of Kubuntu 9.10. It is possible to do it via xorg.conf, but that's hardly a suitable solution for the general user. Even that solution is made much more complicated by the virtual nature of xorg.conf in the latest X11, since the file by default doesn't actually exist in a visible place. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Inability to set high screen resolutions in nvidia-xconfig, Systems Settings, and initial installation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/542873 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
