I managed to reproduce the issue with the package on Lucid, it indeed
remove the username on the SSH bookmark. I've installed the proposed
package and make the same test, create a bookmark, edit it and see if
the username was saved or not, it was indeed saved now, the bug is fixed
with the
The version in lucid-proposed looks fine, fixes the bug at my end.

I can confirm the bug.
Username is not saved when you add an ssh host to the favourites.
Haven't tried with VNC.
A workaround is to save the username as part of the hostname, separated
by the @ sign
