Do I understand right?
It is not and alsactl problem that sound volume is set to zero during
boot.
It is instead a PulseAudio problem which only happens with this laptop
and only after ALSA is upgraded.

Doesn't the GNOME sound preferences menu and Output tab offer an
Analog Speakers selection in the Connector dropdown?
Yes it now has an Analog Speakers section it didn't use to have. Before
it was only Analog Output and Analog Speakers.
Now I see this when I open the preferences, and it does

More precisely, it was disappearing each time I selected the Input as
you see on Screenshot-2.
Now from the Profile section at Screenshot-4 I chose another option,
than Duplex again, and it seems not to be happening anymore.
