From the ppa I installed
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.22.1.
Compiled on Apr 5 2010 for kernel 2.6.32-19-generic (SMP).
And now I have the cracking sound.

PS: Lucid didn't change my alsa-base.conf to insert the snd-hda-
powersave as in Karmic.
