My mistake. The sound level for an aif file is remembered by the movie
player rather than the firefox plugin. However, I'm still of the
opinion that the volume level should be remembered by the plugin.

It does help to execute the comand gconftool --type int --set
/apps/totem/volume 100 as recommended for
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/527432 - but now the volume is set to
100 as the default - so if one adjusts the volume to, say, 50 then the
next time one plays an MP3 it starts at 10
This looks like a duplicate of Bug 527432 .

"movie browser plugin" has volume at 0% by default. (checked with the sound
preferences applet)
There is no way to set the volume to e.g: 100% and have it saved for the next
time a video is played in the browser.
Tested with Chromium and Firefox, both with the same behavior.
