I am not sure what to do with this bug report. By all mean I think
empathy should simply drop the option to import accounts from pidgin. I
will mark this wont fix and also open a bug report to remove the option
to import from pidgin. As now you dont have any problems. Thanks

The problem happened when Empathy imported from Empathy, previous version.
The same happened with pidgin but I was using Empathy since the previous
Ubuntu version. Look the scenario:
On Ubuntu 9.10: I started using empathy, imported my contacts from pidgin
and everything worked fine.

A quick solution was to reinsert all the accounts. Now it is working.
