It was some faulty hardware issue (probably when downloading the package). I downloaded the package from http://packages.ubuntu.com/ and when running dpkg -i with the new downloaded package all was good. ** Changed in: powernowd (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- package powernowd
