I do not know. I installed 11.04 and reverted back to 10.10 as this release
was crashing my computer and was pretty slow and buggy compared to 10.10.
So I do not plan to test or install 11.10 or any beta.

On that front, even though gnome-screensaver is the default installed
package, since xscreensaver is an officially supported package (because
it has the Ubuntu logo next to in Synaptic, yes?), should you also test
against xscreensaver?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers

I think this is the correct bug to watch, but maybe should also be
watching id=567908 inhibit session instead of screensaver

I'd report this upstream (as upstream is where things get fixed!), but,
like Charlie, I don't know where to report it. I am happy to do the
hard work of sending this upstream if someone could direct me to the
correct project.

I can confirm on Lucid. With both gnomescreensaver and and xscreensaver
installed.
I not sure where the problem lies, but judging as best I can with my
rudimentary debugging skills, the attached dbus output would seem to
imply that
- totem (1.774) is sending an Inhibit signal,
