# sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-195.36.24-pkg2.run -k $(uname -r)
To Alex Cuervo What kind of graphic card you have? Did you remove the
free driver nouveau from your system before you installed proprietary
driver from NVidia?

I have and Nvidia NVS 450.
I removed xserver-xorg-video-all xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
and then
sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-195.36.24-pkg2.run -k $(uname -r) (or what ever
nvidia drivers your are using).

This worked for me:
sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.53-pkg2.run -k $(uname -r)
OR for newer drivers
sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-195.36.24-pkg2.run -k $(uname -r)

I did the next:
# sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
and put there this code:
vga16fb
nouveau
And started to compile driver once again. I did't get the first error THE
DISTRIBUTION-PROVIDED PRE-INSTALL SCRIPT FAILED.
but I've got another error. Text of this error is below:
