Hey Felix. Thanks a lot for the patch :) And thank you Philip for forwarding it
to the right place.
Ideally bugs/patches like this should just go to gnome bugzilla directly. It
would save us all a lot of work
I have opened another bug report for the case where you die soon after rebirth,
or at other points unexpectedly:

Therefore this bug can be just about the problem upon reversal and can
be closed when appropriate

Just a clarification on the patch to make it easier to be merged
upstream:
In the shipping code the worm-> list is reversed before the data of movement of
the tail is captured.
This provides the wrong answer.
The patch ensures that the direction of the tail is computed before any
changes are mad

Hi,
I had this problem often, so I had a look at it this week - here is a
patch. :-)
The problem was that when an AI worm ate a diamond, which reverses all
other players, the calculation to determine which direction you were now
moving in was incorrect.
If your worm was moving in a straight lin
Same here, only mine occurs when an AI player eats a diamond.

Marking as confirmed since I am now the third person to see this. I
have been annoyed the last few nights by dieing without running into
anything, and tonight when it happened, I lost all remaining 10 lives I
had after repsawning and moving 3 spaces.

I have this same problem. I have also discovered that sometimes, if you
do not press any keys after the worm restarts, the worm will go three
spaces and then die again. This will keep happening until you are out of
points or you press a key to make the worm move.
