The intel driver no longer requires an xorg.conf now that it uses KMS. The fact
that yours still existed is a problem with the upgrade process from Karmic, not
a problem with the -intel driver, so I really couldn't

graphics-mode warning on boot anymore.
Potential remaining issues:

2) The resolution on the gdm login screen is incorrect.

gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
and on the line
Driver "vesa"
replace "vesa" with "intel" so it reads
Driver "intel"
Save and exit. Then reboot.
