So it seems its because we now use grub2 - so please add grub2
instructions to this doc. Even if its just a link to here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2

Essentially you do something like this
* Add the entry to the bottom of /etc/grub.d/40_custom
* Change (hd0,0) to be where your root is - so for me its sdc4 which becomes 
(hd2, 4)
* Run sudo update-grub

I'm about to try this - hopefully will be able to boot again after. This
install is hard work.
