Hi, I am Daniele Valtorta.
I have the same problem (no sound through the speakers) with a Compaq PC
with ubuntu 64 bit. Adding the line options snd-hda-intel model=mobile
or touchsmart doesn't fix the issue.
The specs of my sound card are and soundcard:
Audio device
/0/100/14.2
product: SBx00
I have two touchsmarts, an 846 and a 300 and I got the speakers working by just
adding this line to the alsa-base.conf
file: options snd-hda-intel model=mobile

model=mobile, I wish they had a working model for the 600 series, they
won't even reply to the bug on possible causes, if I had an idea where
to start poking around in the source code I may just be able to help the
dev's out but no

pins / (nodeid's) from hp's bios. although different chipsets, don't
know how to confirm correct nodeid's for internal speakers though, sum1
help plz.

@David Henningsson - Thanks for noticing that. I have provided Enrique
with the standard alsa-base.conf file and we are back to sound through
speakers only. Please feel free to recommend any module options that may
also enable the speakers on this laptop.

I also have only headphone output (no internal speakers) on touchsmart
600-1005xt using alc888 codec on nvidia mcp79/A controller. Have tried
every Ubuntu distribution from 8.04 - 10.04 with same results most of
the alsa-base.conf model flags under the 888 section. Also, I like
carrots...

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, to make sure there isn't something
looking like this:
snd-hda-intel: model=3stack alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intelgksudo gedit
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
snd-hda-intel: model=3stack d above generic
