Yes, this is still an issue. Actually I think it got worst with the update to
Lucid. I'm running
an up-to-date version of 10.04 now. Now, when I remove the plug,
instantaneously I get
a message that I have 2 minutes of battery life and warnings about the machine
shutting
down.

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
