Are you saying that dieing is intentional? Come on, this bug is really
annoying.
I can modify my applications, but there are 3rd party applications that produce
this behavior and compiz becomes unusable.

This is intentional. When compiz runs in to a window larger than the max
texture size it quits rather than show garbage or a solid white box as
it used to. Compiz 0.9 will have a proper fix for this.
