Public bug reported: Everyone now and then boot hangs. This probably happens about once a week, and I boot the computer once or twice a day. When it happens I hold the power button until it powers down, power up again and it's fine. When it hangs it shows the message:
(process:311): Glib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0) I am aware of bug 532984, but in comment 27 we are asked to file new bugs for this message, so here is mine. I haven't yet tried pressing other keys on my keyboard when boot stops to see if it continues booting or goes straight to gdm. I'll try that next time it happens. Also I note that it appears to be a clean shut down. I have done 'ubuntu-bug linux' on the first boot after it happening once, so hopefully there is some sort of useful info in the attached files. Let me know if there is any other specific information you want from me.
