I noticed this too, but I Oo crashes if I try to open files as well,
other then that same symptoms, after crash recovery wizard starts ...
Also how do I get debugging info from Oo, running from the command line
produced no output from the crash and I'm not sure how to run it in gdb.

same on my side, it looks like a problem of handling the file-dialog.
For me open, save, save as, insert - picture - from file and
insert - file all crash (I stopped looking after all these crashing).
