Hi! This bug is important. I can confirm this problem and it isn't normal for a
users change ALWAYS the brightness in each boot.

This bug still exist in Maverick.
And, beside GNOME Power Manager, I think there are some other packages
related to this bug. Please see my explanation below:
When I press lower brightness / higher brighness buttons on my
laptop, Ubuntu will display the brightness status. This also mean that

Ubuntu is able to detect that the brightness has been reduced, but the
GNOME Power Manager's configuration was not updated. That caused the
brightness to be reset to 100% which is the brightness setting in GNOME
Power Manager.
Again, the bug still exist in Ubuntu

Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Power Manager is available on
Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with
