Unfortunately I am no longer able to test this as I do not have access to my
Ubuntu machine. Hopefully someone else may be able to update this bug
report, or else I will revisit it at some point in the future.

The upstream bug about the download manager seems mostly to be seeking to
change the way information about downloading episodes is displayed. This
bug is a separate issue, as the problem is entirely independent of how the
information is displayed. Instead, this bug is about the actual behaviour
in the upstream bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341462
they are talking about having a download manager for podcast that way
you could download all the episodes from a particular podcast, resume
the downloads, retry the failures, etc. could you have a look and see if
that's what
