Well, on new Ubuntu 13.10 Eclipse menus don't render correctly. They are
empty, except Edit, which opens, but without text in it.

This seems to be because SWT doesn't emit the realize signal that
appmenu-gtk watches for to start populating the menu. Looking into why.

Not sure I should add this here or add a new bug but since Aptana is
derived from Eclipse:
Menu in Aptana just shows File Close when it should have a dozen of
items ad a lot more sub-items...

Just to make it clear to others: This fix is actually a workaround for not
using the global menu in eclipse.
To do that, before running eclipse, run export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0
You could also create a script to launch it:
#!/bin/bash
export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0
_path_to_downloaded_eclipse_/eclipse
Is this something that the Eclipse project could fix in their releases?
I just tried Helios downloaded from Eclipse project and its menus were
stripped.
