Ah, has Ubuntu reached that level of popularity whereupon an unpleasant

change would be unnoticed by all other than those it would infuriate.

This bug report is regarding a default option of having a signature when none
is present. Which was fixed and closed.
If you do not like this change, please comment with relevant arguments on bug

Personally I'm quite disappointed this is not the default. I think it's
a great idea, that subtly tells people about Ubuntu. It's easy, and
always was, to turn off for those that like to hide their light under a
bushell. For the rest of us, and I suspect most of the people who
thought it a good
