Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apt-file
apt-file assumes that the repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list ({.d/}) carry Contents-<arch>.gz files. This seems not to hold for all Ubuntu mirrors (whereas I gather all Debian mirrors do have this file). Witness: bug #179899, bug #567895, bug #181312, bug #220396 (tangential) Should apt-file in Ubuntu somehow know which mirrors do carry Contents-<arch>.gz files, and (silently?) skip the rest, and perhaps even substitute a "canonical" (sorry!) server if the user hasn't selected any server which has the required file? ** Affects: apt-file (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Not all Ubuntu mirrors carry Contents-<arch>.gz https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/619659 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
