Rather than replacing the compile-environment CXXFLAGS with only
-D__STDC_CONSTANT_MACROS, I propose
export CXXFLAGS=$(shell dpkg-buildflags --get CXXFLAGS)
-D__STDC_CONSTANT_MACROS
That should just be an addition to -g -O2, etc.
