Thanks for your bug. The fact that you doesn't know how to copy a
filename with a : doesn't make a software bug. You can use \: by
example. Marking as rejected since that's not a bug

and right after I made the changes... :( I realized it's still not
correct. please reject those 2 packages. I'm sorry about that.
Please add nautilus (for the failure to directly copy the files) and
file-roller because those are the packages that couldn't handle the
job...

I totally forgot about the \ trick.
But please do reconsider reopening this bug. the fact remains that tar
and rsync (two basic archiving utilities) failed to backup those files.
hmm, maybe I should have opened the bug for rsync and tar (cause they
don't know how to process a name with : in it).
maybe you use a filesystem (like vfat) that doesn't handle some chars
correctly?

nautilus has no issue to copy a filename with a :, marking that task
as rejected too

maybe you use a filesystem (like vfat)
argh. the backup was going to a fat32 partition on a flash drive. should
have double checked with other partitions.
